Mayo Makinde is a Columbus, Ohio–based entrepreneur, community organizer, and advocate for economic development. The son of New Americans and scholarship students at The Ohio State University, he has dedicated his career to building businesses while empowering underserved communities.

Mayo, a former candidate for Ohio Legislature (House and Senate), recently served as a South Linden Area Commissioner and has been elected to the Franklin County Democratic Party Central Committee, representing both Columbus Ward 26 (East Columbus) and Columbus Ward 17 (Linden). His leadership experience also includes serving as President of the East Columbus Civic Association. 

Through these roles, he has consistently advocated for community resources, often traveling at his own expense to the Ohio Statehouse and Capitol Hill to engage policymakers on issues impacting his community. He is also recognized locally as a motivational speaker and radio host.

Professionally, Mayo is the Owner and CEO of Makinde Enterprise, Inc., a parent company overseeing ventures in construction, logistics, and real estate development, including Makinde 3D Printing. Since entering the construction industry in 2016, he has developed significant experience in property renovation, contracting, and emerging construction technologies.

Mayo previously served as Executive Director of the National Association of Minority Contractors (NAMC) of Central Ohio and as one of two National Board Members of the national organization, which has supported minority contractors for over 50 years.

Over the past 12 years, he has remodeled multiple residential units and achieved 900% growth in assets across his ventures. Today, Mayo is leading efforts to advance 3D-printed housing technology, including the development of one of the first permitted 3D-printed homes in the Midwest. Through Makinde Enterprise, he is also working to expand development opportunities internationally, with active discussions underway in Kenya, Ghana, and Nigeria, focused on infrastructure development, housing innovation, and global partnerships.
